Winter in Taipei

Spent a week in January in Taipei. The weather there was nice and cool but the frequent rain sort of dampens the spirit and mood when we go sightseeing.

Day 1
Check in, visit toilet cafe, and walked around ximending.

Day 2
Woke up early to go danshui, very nice suburban place and fresh air abound. Walked the old street and took the train back to wufen pu. Walked around Raohe market as well.

Day 3
Woke up later and went to Jiufen and Shifen.
Jiu Fen is a nice little town away from the main city. The food there is nice and it has great scenery as it lies on top of a mountain. We ate stuff like Taro Balls, Fishball with glass noodles, Sausages as usual, and there’s this Crepe ice cream sort of food which taste pretty good too !

Shifen is nearby where the train passes. We went to check out the waterfall and also to light the KongMing Deng. The only bad thing was that the gate closes pretty early so we had to walk the train tracks to exit the place. Without warning, an oncoming train was heading towards us as we were walking out. Luckily we had crossed the bridge over the stream if not we would not be able to avoid the train in time.

Nightfall came pretty fast and we took a cab back. We had buffet dinner for just 499NT per person and you can enjoy free flow Haagen Daaz ice cream and beer, barbequed meat and fondue.

Day 4
Woke up later, went to YangMingShan for Hot springs. It was not the perfect weather as it was raining and very misty up there.

Enjoyed the spring though its a bit expensive. 600 NT for just 2 hours a person.

Day 5

Woke up early to go to the zoo and the Mao Kong cable car. Cable cars and zoo entrance is way cheaper there. Cable car is just 50NT and zoo entrance 60NT.

We could actually see pandas in the zoo though they seems kinda tired and were lying down instead of playing around like the fake statues outside the display.

Day 6

Packed up and headed to the airport for last minute shopping and fly back to SG.

Total spending ; $1400

about $900 for hotel and airfare SQ
spend about $500 cash there
